Last year I went for the first time and let me tell ya, I really loved it. It’s amazing to me how you start to feel a connection to these young aspiring stars, as if they were part of your own family. And I suppose in some sense, we are all part of the American idol family.
Watching these young stars give it their all, beginning with the American idol auditions, right on through to the top 10 (or is it 12?), observing their improvement, their responses to the judges critiques and their struggles to survive from week to week as their competition turn into close friends… it is a great feeling to be in a place where you can show your appreciation in person and at the same time enjoy some incredible performances.
Isn’t it interesting how we can look back at the past American idols and reflect on the ones that we thought would do well in the music industry and how surprising the results actually turn out. I don’t know about you but I’ve been wrong more than once. Truth be known, I felt that Katherine Mcphee was the best singer in Season 5. I now realize that great singing ability is not the only criteria for success in the Music world.
Thus far we’ve had 8 American Idol winners.
Here they are in order.
- Season 1 – Kelly Clarkson,
Season 2 – Ruben Studdard,
Season 3 – Fantasia Barrino,
Season 4 – Carrie Underwood,
Season 5 – Taylor Hicks,
Season 6 – Jordin Sparks,
Season 7 – David Cook and last year’s
Season 8 – winner was Kris Allen.
And even though the list below did not win the competition, here are a few past American Idol finalists and contestants that did have some success or notoriety due at least in part to their exposure on AI. Chris Daughtry, needless to say his success surpasses more than a few of the American Idol winners and I believe he was voted off around #4? Way to go Chris! As you should know by now, America doesn’t always get it right. The real popularity contest is when it’s all over.
Clay Aiken, Kelly Pickler, Adam Lambert, Bucky Covington, Elliott Yamin, Bo Bice, Josh Gracin, Kimberly Locke, Jennifer Hudson, Mandisa, Constantine Maroulis, Melinda Dolittle and Kimberly Caldwell. And let me not fail to mention Sanjaya and William Hung.
Who will win Season 9 and (whoever they are) will they be the most successful of the Season 9 finalists? That is why we watch the show the folks. But here’s a few questions I have for ya.
- Who will be your favorite this year?
Will you have more than one? (I always do)
Will your opinion change as the season progresses?
Will we laugh more at Ellen DeGeneres when she makes an off the wall comment, than we did at Paula’s banter with Simon Cowell? I think so.
Will the dynamics change between Ryan Seacrest and Simon now that Ellen is there?
Will Kara Dioguardi compete for best body and lastly…
Will Randy Jackson ever stop calling contestants “dogs?” lol I hope not. He’s a character too, isn’t he?
I hope you enjoyed these thoughts about this upcoming season and if this is the year that you decide that going to an American Idol concert is for you, perhaps I’ll see you there! Ya never know. For information on American Idols go to www.americanidol.com
Please let me know what YOU think by leaving your comments below. Thanx.

That is definitely unbelievable and really nicely written. Generally I tend not to make posts on post on blogs, However , I have got to congratulate you on this one. Superb article
I will confess that AI is getting a little tiresome but I still like it because it is an “easy” watch for me.
Hi,
Could American Idol get any more popular? It seems that you find people at work, at lunch and everywhere talking about it. I guess it is not only the talent involved that is interesting but the stories behind them as well.
I do like American Idol, but I hear they are changing the format or launching a new show, to be more like the UK’s X-Factor (another great show by the way).
At the end of the day, the real winner is Simon Cowell…:-)
Just found your blog after reading the sales letter of AutoContentCash. looking forward to purchasing it.
Your writing keeps getting better and better! Your older articles are not as good as newer ones you have a lot more creativity and originality now. Keep it up!
Awesome info at one place. I like the American idol and American Buzz!
I love your articles very much because they are written in an understandable coherent. So I can study them although I come from Germany and have some troubles to understand English articles.
It is an interesting season, who do you think will win?
Nice site and yes, I love American Idol, I don’t think I’ll enjoy it as much though without Simon! Thanks for your visit to my site.
I love your articles who do you think will win?
I’m sure we all have our favorites and they may actually change as we move closer to the finale.
In fact I have already had multiple changes just since the top 24 were announced. lol
For example, I too really liked Andrew Garcia after hearing his version of Paula Abdul’s “Straight Up” and although I still like him very much he’s fallen a few pegs from my top picks.
Similarly, at one point I favored Casey James as the top guy of the remaining contestants. However, I now have Lee DeWyze as the front runner for the guys followed close behind by Aaron Kelly. Both of them have the most unique voices in my view.
Among the ladies, I currently have Siobhan Magnus and Crystal Bowersox in virtual tie.
Can’t wait till Tuesday!
Let me know what you guys (and gals) think below.
Awesome video! I love acoustic versions of pop tracks like this. Another great one to take a look at is Jamie Cullum’s version of Please Don’t Stop The Music by Rihanna. Take a look here:

You know when JLO first appear on Idol giving singing lessons i was like “she cant sing either’. JLO as a judge, I don’t know if that will workout. Guess will just keep watching.
I followed the first few seasons of american idol, and it got a little old after awhile, but it always intrigued me how some of the runners up surpassed the winners in terms of fame and fortune.
