American Idol Season 9 reality show is on its way toward the finale and its premiere on January 12, 2010 in, you guessed it, Hollywood. Where else could it be?

Judges are being lined up with a few unexpected turn of events. Although Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi will be returning; Paula Abdul who has been judging the American Idol for the past eight seasons of its existence has decided to step off the judge’s bench to make room for Ellen DeGeneres.

Ellen’s new appearance as the competition’s fourth permanent judge was confirmed by Peter Rice, Fox’s Chairman of the Board, in September 2009. In the meantime, however, Victoria Beckham, Katy Perry, Mary J. Blige, Shania Twain, Avril Lavigne, Joe Jonas, Neil Patrick Harris and Kristin Chenoweth had been the AI ninth season guest judges during the audition phases at the various venues throughout the country.

And the audition venues throughout the country were as follows:

The regional and preliminary phase —

  • June 14, 2009 — Gillette Stadium in Boston, Massachusetts
  • June 18, 2009 — Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia
  • June 22, 2009 — United Center in Chicago, Illinois
  • June 26, 2009 — Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas

  • July 09, 2009 — Amway Arena in Orlando, Florida
  • July 14, 2009 — Invesco Field in Denver, Colorado

The call-back auditions for those who have successfully passed the preliminary phase —

Don’t Miss this Great Video of Auditions in Orlando, FL

With age limitation of between 16 and 28 as of June 12, 2009 and with the eligibility requirement to legally work in the United States, tens of thousands of hopeful contestants showed up at the various audition places but only a small percentage of true talents made it through to the next phase of the American Idol 2010 competition.

But there was an interesting twist when a 62 year old man showed at the American Idol 2010 auditions and caused a slight riot that was hilarious — don’t miss the American Idol Pants on the Ground video and be prepared for a very hardy laugh!

And, by the way, we are happy to announce that the Idol Gives Back concert and fundraiser will be returning this coming ninth season of the American Idol and it will take place on April 21, 2010. For those of you who are not aware of it, this charitable campaign had first been initiated during the sixth season of the American Idol and was repeated during the seventh season. However, due to the recession and the long lasting economic crisis, this event was held back during the eighth season.
