Ashley Rodriguez is a 22 year old music major from Chelsea, Massachusetts. Ashley has been singing since the age of five and has yet to stop. She auditioned for AI when the show stopped in Boston. She blew all four judges away when she sang, “If I Ain’t Got You,” by Alicia Keys. All of the judges voted yes.

While attending Berklee College of Music, she participated in the City Music program, which eventually landed her a full four year scholarship. At Berklee, she sung with top musicians such as, Philip Bailey and Chaka Kahn. She also sng with an international gospel group called Overjoyed. She is no stranger to music and has her masters in music. How far will she go? Continue watching her journey as she approaches the stage on Fox!

Update: Ashley voted off: “There’s a big difference when you feel like something that big is on the line, though. An added stress level I wasn’t necessarily expecting. You’re thinking, don’t mess it up!” says the past Idol contestant. Although she had a short lived experience on AI, she says she has made a lot of connections already and feels American Idol gave her the opportunity of a lifetime. We will wish her much success. I miss her already.

Ashley’s Song of the Week:

What the judges had to say:
SIMON COWELL: Feels she is going backwards and fears that she would be in trouble after her performance.

KARA DIOGUARDI: Thought it was too big of a song for her. But she thought she would move on to the next week because she sang well,

RANDY JACKSON: Also thought she picked a song that was too big for her.

ELLEN DEGENERES: Thinks she’s great, she’s beautiful but wanted to hear a song that is more her that shocks everyone.
