Ninteen year old Kat Nestel from Orange County, California who favors being known just by her first name Kat, headed north to Los Angeles for her first tryouts and audition for the Season 9 American Idol singing talent search competition.
Her arrival at the Rose Bowl which is actually in Pasadena, California, not Los Angeles, was a rather fruitful one because she won over the panel of judges who rewarded her with the golden ticket to Hollywood after hearing her sing “Saw Red.”
Allegedly, Kat Nestel believes that her mission and purpose in life is to sing and make music and so that is where her passion and energy are focused as she write original tunes to the lyrics she composes herself, as she strums the strings of her guitar, as she glides her fingers over the white and black keys of her piano and, of course, as she sings her own pieces or someone else’s. We at American Buzz consider Kat Nestel to be one very talented young lady, wouldn’t you?
Although her music reflects the enthusiasm and the hardship of an ambitious teen in the 21st century; Kat Nestel is most inspired by Pink, The Beatles and Alanis Morissette. And if one is forced to describe or categorize Kat’s music, the closest would be acoustics which have been heavy influenced by pop and rock.

I do not know Kat personally but I do know her father! All I can say is she comes by it honestly! Her father is a musician and has always loved music! This has made him very happy for his daughter. Good Luck Kat…I will be watching and praying for you!
Kat is my beautiful first born daughter. She is amazing!At 8 month old before she could even say any words she would make a melody to match what I was singing with her voice. Her grandfather was a big influence with all the instruments she can play. She has so much passion, you can just see and her it when she sings. Kat is beautiful inside and ou, she is one of the most honest,real,caring,sensitive, and loving women that I have ever met. I am not just saying this because I am her mother she really is. Kat has lived a hard life being that I was a single mother most of it. for the first 12 years it was always her and I we lived in studio appts. and I always worked 2 jobs to make a living and to be able to keep her going to the same school district throughout her school years. When Kat was 12 years old I married my high school sweetheart and had another daughter. She loved this man as her own father and wanted him to adopt, at the same time this being a very difficult time for her with all the changes. 3 years later this man she wanted to call father and that I was about to spend my life with violated her while she was sleeping which caused tragic things to happend in both our lives. she and I have finally moved on and I am so proud of her and what she has done for herself with American Idol. Today Kat and I have a strong relationship and I am with her all the way! good luck Kat I love you so much!!!!!

The point is this; the life that they have had might not have been the ideal life, but for what they have, they have made the best of it. maybe u can write another blog when you have a rough patch/kids. i am her uncle, i am bias; ofcourse, but she is self taught, and the passion in her work shows everytime she performs. i would research bios on kat before judging people. I have knownw her and her family since she was about the 8 months her mother mentioned in an earlier post. She has always been a strong and independent minded girl who knows how to take care of herself. She has been wowing people for years with that set of pipes God has given her. She is a loving sister who has found family through friends as well as blood. She just has a real sense of life. As for her mom’s remarks that caused that stir earlier, better sooner and by her own accord, than later and some tabloid making it into some tragic scandal. After all if you own it, it can no longer have the power to define you. I look forward to seeing much more from this eclectic powerhouse of talent. We love you Kat! Now go forward and make the world yours, we know it is you who makes you, not circumstance. So proud!!

Just wanted to send a little note letting you all know that I appreciate your support and positive feedback! I have been wroking really hard this summer and I will be playing a lot more shows in the coming months. Wow, i just found out about kat surfing youtube, and she’s amazing. i sing for a small time non serious band in houston, it’s just something we like to get together and do. We all like to listen to kat’s music, and can’t wait for the EP. would love an update on that, and if you get the chance in the future please come to houston! (preferably the cypress area =))

I saw Kat in Fargo, ND Sunday night February 26th, 2012. There was probably no more than 35-40 people there (dive bar/no advertising for the event) There were a few other acts there that night. Kat took the stage abd right from the get go she was amazing! Great guitarist, great voice, very good original music along with covers, and a real beauty with the stage presence of a pro. She’s the total package. I am a singer songwriter that would love to see her succeed in this crazy music industry.
