With long and beautifully wavy strawberry blonde hair and looking a little like Walt Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, Nora Patterson had to try very hard to overcome her natural shyness when she set out to compete against 120 other singing hopefuls in her hometown’s Baton Rouge competition.

Although no one else seemed to have been overly surprised, Nora herself was utterly flabbergasted when she ended up winning the Baton Rouge Idol but, of course, she was also thrilled and anxious in equal measures.

After all, to go on and compete for the national American Idol singing talent search contest in Denver, Colorado is, by far, a larger deal as the crowd of competitors numbers in the thousands and the audiences number in tens of millions. Even after having triumphed over timidity, bashful little Nora Patterson has to decide what to wear and, more importantly, what to sing. Whichever were her choices, they were apparently effective because Nora Patterson equally impressed all the judges who unanimously voted her in and handed her the golden ticket to Hollywood.
